There are watches that tell the time. Then there are watches that appear ready to take off from your wrist.

With the BR-03 Helipad, Bell & Ross returns to familiar territory—the cockpit—but approaches it from an unexpected angle. Bold in yellow and black and unmistakably playful at first glance, this 500-piece limited edition transforms one of aviation’s most recognisable sights into a miniature mechanical spectacle: a helicopter hovering above its landing pad.

The idea began with something wonderfully simple. Bell & Ross designers noticed that the continuous rotation of a seconds hand echoed the movement of helicopter blades. From there, an entire scene took shape.

Surrounded by the tools of flight, the BR-03 Helipad reveals the aeronautical inspiration behind its bold, instrument-driven design.

Instead of merely placing an aircraft motif on the dial, Bell & Ross made the helicopter part of the time display itself. Powered by the automatic BR-CAL.327 calibre, the watch uses a black rotating disc inspired by a helipad to indicate the hours, while the nose of the helicopter points to the minutes. At its centre, the blades sweep continuously around the dial to mark the passing seconds. Suddenly, checking the time feels less like reading an instrument and more like watching a tiny aircraft suspended in flight.

The BR-03 Helipad turns time into motion, with a miniature helicopter hovering above its graphic landing pad.

It is a playful concept, but one firmly grounded in the brand’s aeronautical DNA. Since the launch of the BR-01 in 2005, Bell & Ross has made cockpit instrumentation central to its design language, establishing its now-signature “circle within a square” silhouette. The BR-03 Helipad continues that lineage while adding a more imaginative chapter to the story.

The familiar BR-03 case measures 41 mm across and is crafted from micro-blasted black ceramic, giving the watch a matte, technical finish that allows its flashes of yellow to command attention. At 10.60 mm thick, with 100 metres of water resistance and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, it retains the practical credentials expected of a Bell & Ross instrument watch.

And then, of course, there is that yellow.

Inspired by the Maison’s first made-to-measure metal watch bracelets in the 1920s, the yellow gold bracelet of the new Santos-Dumont Watch unfolds with infinite delicacy against the skin

Far from being colour for colour’s sake, it draws from aviation safety codes, where high visibility matters. Super-LumiNova® X2 illuminates the yellow elements and main indexes with a green glow in darkness, recalling the illuminated instruments of a rescue helicopter cockpit. The matching yellow rubber strap pushes the colour story further, while an interchangeable black synthetic fabric strap offers a stealthier alternative when the mission calls for something more restrained.
