There comes a point when even a weekend off does not feel like enough.

The laptop may be closed and the meetings temporarily cleared from the calendar, yet the mind remains somewhere between an unanswered email and next Monday’s to-do list. For entrepreneurs, creatives and anyone accustomed to moving through life at full speed, switching off can sometimes feel like another task to master.

Perhaps what is needed, then, is not simply a holiday, but a different relationship with time.

Set along Bali’s southwest coast, Regent Bali Canggu offers exactly that. Surrounded by six hectares of gardens and the easy energy of Batu Bolong, the beachfront resort creates a world where days are allowed to unfold without urgency. Here, luxury is measured less by how much can be fitted into an itinerary and more by how comfortably it can be left empty.

A grand wooden pavilion glows at dusk. Lanterns line a floating walkway leading to a golden floral carving. Reflecting pools frame the entrance on both sides.

The shift begins with the surroundings. Inspired by the layered simplicity of traditional Balinese villages and rice terraces, the resort’s architecture gently draws the eye towards the sea. Natural tones, lush greens and deep blues flow throughout the interiors, while native flora and quiet water features soften the landscape. It is unmistakably refined, but never detached from its setting; Balinese craftsmanship and cultural symbolism are woven into the experience, from hand-carved stone to traditional motifs reimagined with contemporary restraint.

Then, there is the simple pleasure of deciding what—or what not—to do next.

A morning might begin slowly in a spacious suite, perhaps one with direct access to a tranquil lagoon pool. Breakfast need not be rushed either; for Regent Club guests, it is served throughout the day, allowing mornings to begin whenever they naturally do. Thoughtful details, from dedicated Regent Experience Agents to complimentary laundry service, quietly remove the small demands that tend to follow us even on holiday.

When the mood calls for movement, the ocean awaits with guided surf sessions, while Balinese kite painting and padel offer alternative ways to reconnect with a more playful rhythm. When the body asks for stillness instead, Regent Spa & Wellness provides its own answer through restorative treatments and hydrotherapy facilities including a vitality pool, cold plunge and saunas.

And eventually, all roads seem to lead back to the sea.

At Beach House, long lunches give way to sunset cocktails, with the resort’s daily Sunset Ritual marking the transition into evening. Elsewhere, CURE Bali pairs European technique with vibrant Asian flavours against the Indian Ocean, while Sazón brings a livelier Mediterranean spirit through fire-kissed dishes, soulful cocktails and evenings that may continue long after dinner.

Perhaps that is the real appeal of Regent Bali Canggu. It does not insist that you spend every moment doing something extraordinary. Instead, it gives you the space to remember that doing very little can feel extraordinary too.

So, after another long month of deadlines, decisions and days that disappear too quickly, perhaps it is time to trade the calendar for the coastline. Stay a little longer. Let breakfast happen late. Watch the sun disappear into the Indian Ocean.

For once, let time belong entirely to you.
