Baume & Mercier’s Clifton collection enters a new chapter with two limited editions distinguished by an exclusive ice-blue guilloché dial. The new Clifton Baumatic 39mm Automatic with Date and Clifton Baumatic Perpetual Calendar 40mm combine the collection’s vintage-inspired character with the Maison’s contemporary watchmaking expertise.
At the centre of both watches is the ice-blue dial, whose guilloché pattern creates a changing play of light across the surface. The detail gives the Clifton a fresh presence while complementing the redesigned case, refined proportions and considered finishing introduced when the collection was relaunched in 2025.
Inspired by the 1950s
Inspired by the aesthetic codes of the 1950s, the Clifton draws on a vintage model through its harmonious proportions, clean readability and balanced silhouette. The redesigned case is more compact, while a domed sapphire crystal, strategically placed Arabic numerals and an integrated crown follow its lines. The ice-blue hue adds another subtle reference to the era without turning the watch into a literal reproduction of the past.
The Clifton Baumatic 39mm
The 39mm Automatic with Date offers the more understated interpretation of the pair. Its ice-blue guilloché dial features a black crosshair at the centre, a snailed minute track, rhodium-plated indexes and an Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock. A tone-on-tone date display sits at six o’clock. The stainless-steel case combines polished and satin-finished surfaces, while an integrated three-row bracelet reinforces its streamlined character.
Inside, Baume & Mercier’s self-winding Baumatic BM13-1975 A manufacture movement delivers a five-day, or 120-hour, power reserve. Operating at 4Hz, the movement is visible through an open sapphire case back, where its open-worked oscillating weight is decorated with Côtes de Genève and snailed finishing.
A Perpetual Calendar in Ice Blue
The 40mm Perpetual Calendar brings the same ice-blue guilloché aesthetic to a more complicated expression, displaying the day, date, month, leap year indication and moon phase. Snailed counters add depth to the dial, while Arabic numerals appear at two, four, eight and ten o’clock. A black moon-phase disc with a polished rhodium moon provides contrast against the blue surface.
Powered by the Baumatic movement with a Dubois-Dépraz module, the watch also offers a 120-hour power reserve. Its gilded open-worked oscillating weight is visible through the sapphire case back, while the 40mm stainless-steel case is paired with an interchangeable blue alligator strap.
A Fresh Take on the Clifton
Both limited editions are water resistant to 50 metres and feature domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystals. With their ice-blue dials and refined mechanical details, the two limited editions give the Clifton a fresh expression while preserving its balance between vintage inspiration, refined design and contemporary watchmaking.
