Michael Rider’s appointment as Artistic Director of CELINE in October 2024 was met with a mixture of curiosity. His years alongside Phoebe Philo, whose tenure shaped one of the house’s most influential eras, naturally prompted speculation. Would he revisit familiar territory, or would he sketch out a new vocabulary altogether? After all, references to the Philo era surfaced in almost every conversation surrounding Rider’s new title.
This is a reflection of the unusual weight that the chapter still carries within contemporary fashion. The answer began to take shape with his debut for Printemps 2026. Rider’s intentions have become easier to read, and he has gradually established a visual language that now feels unmistakably his own. Across successive collections, tailoring remains central paired with a chic nonchalance that softens even the sharpest silhouettes.
Jackets are cut with precision, while shirt tails slip beneath their hems and scarves remain casually draped around the neck and shoulders. Jewellery is layered naturally, with rings stacked across fingers and chains clustered at varying lengths, giving the impression of personal treasures accumulated over the years. For all their sophistication, the pieces in the collection never feel untouchable. One could easily imagine them folded over the back of a chair, packed into a suitcase, or reached for again the following morning.
Accessories carry a similar sensibility. They are never treated as afterthoughts, nor do they arrive as attention-seeking centrepieces. Instead, they act as complementary counterparts to the Ready-to-Wear pieces Rider has been constructing at CELINE. Some of CELINE’s most recognisable signatures also find their way back into the collections. The return of the Luggage and Phantom signals a willingness to revisit the house’s archives, while the Triomphe continues to evolve through new proportions.
Enter the Soft Triomphe. First introduced during Printemps 2026 and revisited the following season at Domaine de Saint-Cloud, the line reinterprets its original iteration in a slouchier attitude. Presented in Besace and Half Moon models, both designs are expressly in line with Rider’s vision for the house. Rendered in a crescent silhouette, the Half Moon softens the structured geometry that has long defined CELINE’s Box bag—arguably the Triomphe’s original predecessor.
As lifestyles continue to favour more compact accessories, the arrival of the Little Half Moon feels like a natural progression. At 25 x 13 x 5 centimetres, it retains the original profile in a more compact format. Created from shiny-finished supple lambskin leather, the bag contrasts beautifully with the CELINE logo in gold-finish hardware, its magnetic clasp integrated into the curve of the design.
A closer look reveals another thoughtful detail. Constructed using a sewn-back technique often found in CELINE’s maroquinerie, the bag retains its curved shape without feeling rigid, a distinction that becomes more apparent in use than in photographs. Inside, a suede calfskin lining adds a more luxurious finish, while thoughtfully arranged compartments and zipped pockets concealed beneath the flap and at the back keep everyday essentials neatly organised. A removable, adjustable strap completes the design, allowing the bag to move easily between shoulder and slingback carry.
Across the Summer, Fall and Winter 2026 collections, the Little Half Moon appears in a classic palette ranging from Sandcastle and Soft Tan to Black, White Cotton, Deep Brown and Syrah. Chosen with the same understated elegance that characterises the maison, these are colours that feel timeless rather than trendy. If you’re drawn to material explorations, the line extends beyond supple lambskin into a raffia version trimmed with leather, while Winter 2026 features crocodile and snakeskin iterations.
