Villa 21 and its multi-layered terraces cascading toward the Gulf of Thailand.

Three MICHELIN Keys. On an island lined with resorts claiming the title of “best,” Samujana is the only property on Koh Samui to actually hold the distinction—and it’s precisely this credential that has drawn ThirdHome, the world’s largest private travel club for second-home owners, back to the estate for a second act.

The club has just expanded its partnership with Samujana, adding two spectacular sea-facing villas to its portfolio: the five-bedroom Villa 6 and the six-bedroom Villa 21. Together with the previously listed Villa 20, members now have access to three residences at the clifftop estate, truly a meaningful vote of confidence, three years into the relationship.

For readers unfamiliar with the model, ThirdHome isn’t a booking platform or a hotel loyalty scheme. It’s an exchange built for owners of second homes who don’t use them year-round. Underused weeks convert into travel credits, which members then redeem for stays at other properties in the network, from private villas to yachts, often at a fraction of comparable rental rates. It’s less a transaction than a trade: quiet space for quiet space, discretion for discretion.

Villa 21's tiered stone-and-glass architecture, seen by day.

That model is precisely why a property like Samujana fits. Perched above the Gulf of Thailand on Samui’s unspoiled northeast coast, the estate trades the shared amenities of a traditional resort for something more private: entire villas, staffed and self-contained, where the infinity pool and the view belong to no one else for the length of the stay.

Villa 6's infinity pool leads the eye toward the open-plan living and dining pavilion.

Villa 6 leans into gathering, five ensuite bedrooms, day beds catching the gulf breeze, an L-shaped pool that runs the length of a hilltop terrace built for long lunches and longer evenings. Villa 21, meanwhile, sits within ThirdHome’s Reserve collection, its top tier of homes. Six bedrooms unfold into a private cinema, a gym, a spa treatment room and a games room, while the wraparound infinity pool outside appears to spill straight into the sea.

Between the two, a 43-foot catamaran waits for sunset cruises, a floodlit tennis court sits ready for a late match, and in-villa Thai massages and cookery classes fill the hours that don’t need filling with anything at all.

By night, Villa 6's living and dining spaces open onto a private terrace.

For travellers based in this part of the world, the appeal carries an added layer of ease. Samui International Airport is barely 5.4 kilometres from the estate—a short domestic hop for many, rather than a long-haul undertaking, putting a three-MICHELIN-Key private estate within surprisingly easy reach of the region.

“Samujana doesn’t need an introduction, three MICHELIN Keys says it plainly,” said Wade Shealy, Founder and Chairman of ThirdHome. He described the appeal as something rarer than a room upgrade: an entire clifftop villa, with the scale and seclusion no traditional hotel stay can quite replicate.

Golden hour at Villa 6, where the infinity edge appears to dissolve into the Gulf of Thailand.

John Dopéré, CEO of Samujana, called ThirdHome a valued partner, noting the calibre of traveller the club has introduced to the estate over the past three years, and voicing enthusiasm for what Villa 6 and Villa 21 will bring to that relationship next.

With more than 30,000 homes across over 100 countries, ThirdHome’s Samui footprint alone now runs to twenty properties. It’s a quiet but telling signal of where the club sees its next chapter, and for members within striking distance of Koh Samui, an increasingly easy one to reach.
