Haute horlogerie rarely allows itself to be playful but CHANEL has never been bound by convention. With its unmistakable creative spirit, the Maison continuously searches for inspiration and now finds it in the many different games we play. With the Coco Game capsule collection, the Maison proves that exceptional watchmaking can be as imaginative as it is technically accomplished.
Designed by Arnaud Chastaingt, the 14-piece haute horlogerie series embodies the playful spirit of tabletop games and vintage arcade graphics, reinterpreted through the Maison’s signature monochrome aesthetic. Reimagined in a nostalgic, pixelated form, the collection celebrates Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, bringing her playful silhouette to life and placing her at the heart of every timepiece. The luxury fashion powerhouse continues to redefine the art of haute horlogerie while honouring the legacy of its founder.
Inspired by the worlds of board games, chess, playing cards, dominoes and vintage arcade entertainment, the Coco Game capsule collection transforms familiar pastimes into captivating expressions of haute horlogerie. CHANEL reinterprets its most emblematic watch families, including the J12, Première, BOY·FRIEND and Code Coco through pixelated graphics, playful visual elements and meticulously crafted details. The pieces convey a creative narrative that seamlessly merges fine watchmaking, high jewellery and artistic storytelling, turning the passage of time into an engaging and imaginative experience.
J12 Coco Game
The J12 Coco Game 38 mm infuses CHANEL’s emblematic watch collection with a playful digital twist. The line is distinguished by a pixelated depiction of Coco Chanel that glides across the dial as the seconds hand, transforming the watch face into a whimsical tribute to vintage arcade graphics. This unexpected detail brings movement, charm and lightness to the timeless J12 design. The watch is available in glossy white ceramic, matt black ceramic and an elevated black ceramic edition framed by a diamond-set bezel.
The white ceramic version highlights the collection’s contemporary and luminous character, while the matt black ceramic model emphasises its bold, graphic appeal. Driven by the Calibre 12.1 self-winding movement, each watch delivers a 70-hour power reserve and water resistance to 200 metres. Diamond hour markers complete the design, balancing technical performance with refined elegance.
For those drawn to a more dazzling interpretation of the J12 Coco Game, CHANEL presents a version accented by a radiant diamond-set bezel. Available in matt black high-tech ceramic and steel, the watch preserves the unmistakable J12 design while elevating it with a frame of meticulously set baguette-cut diamonds. This refined addition enhances the collection’s playful spirit with an extra touch of glamour and sophistication. Limited to just 55 pieces worldwide, the model ranks among the rarest and most coveted creations within the Coco Game capsule collection.
A fourth interpretation, the J12 Coco Game Charms, takes a more subtle approach, retaining the collection’s signature white ceramic construction while introducing a playful surprise in the form of a dangling charm. Suspended from the crown is a pixelated rendition of Mademoiselle Chanel, transformed into a miniature character that appears to have stepped straight out of an 8-bit video game.
The tiny lacquered figure showcases CHANEL’s remarkable attention to detail. Despite its whimsical appearance, the development of the pixelated character required months of refinement to achieve perfectly defined edges on individual 0.5 mm pixels without distorting the original motif. As the charm sways with every movement of the wrist, the watch takes on an animated quality, as though Mademoiselle Chanel herself is accompanying its wearer throughout the day.
Like the diamond-bezel version, the J12 Coco Game Charms is limited to just 55 pieces worldwide. By transforming its founder into a playful digital avatar, CHANEL reinterprets one of its most enduring symbols through a contemporary lens, creating a collector’s piece that blends haute horlogerie, jewellery and artistic expression.
BOY·FRIEND Coco Game
CHANEL reinvents its elegant rectangular watch as a playful horological canvas inspired by the world of playing cards with the BOY·FRIEND Coco Game. Embracing the whimsical spirit of the Coco Game universe, both editions reinterpret Gabrielle Chanel as the Queen of Hearts, her unmistakable silhouette rendered in graphic black and white against an immaculate dial.
Dressed in her signature boater hat, black-edged tweed suit and layered pearl necklaces, Mademoiselle becomes the central character in a sophisticated game where horology meets storytelling. Metallic heart-shaped appliqués soften the graphic composition, adding warmth and charm to the monochromatic portrait. While sharing the same artistic concept, dimensions and quartz-powered precision, the two references express distinct personalities through their bezels, offering collectors different interpretations of the same narrative.
The more precious model features a black-coated steel case measuring 34.6 x 26.7 x 7.3 mm, framed by 38 baguette-cut diamonds totalling approximately 1.47 carats. A black spinel cabochon crown and a white calfskin strap trimmed in black patent leather continue the collection’s elegant monochrome aesthetic.
A second variant offers a more graphic expression of the same enchanting story. Rather than a diamond bezel, this version features a white lacquered bezel that enhances the purity of the design and reinforces the illusion of a playing card suspended within the case. The contrast between the black-coated steel case and the bright lacquered frame creates a crisp, contemporary look that allows the artwork to take centre stage.
Sharing the same dimensions as its counterpart, the watch is fitted with a black spinel cabochon crown and an interchangeable white calfskin strap accented with black patent leather trim. A high-precision quartz movement and 30 metres of water resistance ensure everyday practicality.
Together, both creations reveal different facets of the same narrative. While one dazzles through the brilliance of baguette-cut diamonds, the other captivates with its clean graphic simplicity. Both exemplify CHANEL’s ability to bridge refined craftsmanship and playful creativity.
Première Coco Game
The Première Coco Game reinterprets CHANEL’s first watch through the playful lens of the Coco Game collection. Inspired by the octagonal stopper of the iconic N°5 perfume bottle, the watch preserves the unmistakable silhouette of the Première while introducing a whimsical detail: six swinging charms that spell “CHANEL”. Moving freely with every gesture, the charms bring a sense of animation and lightness to a design deeply rooted in CHANEL’s heritage.
Issued in limited numbers, the watch showcases the Maison’s striking monochrome palette. Its black-coated steel case, black lacquered dial and sapphire crystal create a bold contemporary appearance, while the compact 19.7 x 15.2 x 7.5 mm case is paired with a black-coated steel chain bracelet interwoven with white calfskin leather. This signature chain-and-leather construction echoes one of CHANELs most iconic design codes, seamlessly connecting the overlapping worlds of watchmaking and fashion.
Driven by a precise quartz movement and offering water resistance to 30 metres, the Première Coco Game displays the hours and minutes with understated sophistication, reflecting the Maison’s distinctive approach to contemporary watchmaking.
Code Coco Game
Drawing inspiration from the clean geometry of domino tiles, the Code Coco Game offers a playful twist on one of CHANEL’s most iconic watch designs. Defined by the Maison’s signature monochrome aesthetic, it balances playful inspiration with timeless elegance.
Its rectangular black-coated steel case measures 39.3 x 25.0 x 8.8 mm and houses a black lacquered dial powered by a precise quartz movement. A 0.10-carat princess-cut diamond adds a subtle touch of brilliance, while the signature Mademoiselle lock closure, inspired by CHANEL’s iconic handbags, serves as both a practical clasp and a hallmark design element.
Complementing the dark case is a white quilted calfskin leather strap accented with black patent leather trim and lining, creating a bold visual contrast. Water-resistant to 30 metres, the Code Coco Game transforms a familiar gaming motif into an elegant timepiece that seamlessly blends fashion and horology.
The Chessboard
The Chessboard is the most elaborate creation in CHANEL’s Coco Game capsule collection, transforming the classic game of chess into a remarkable expression of haute horlogerie. Designed as a singular creation, it highlights Gabrielle Chanel’s passion for games while demonstrating the Maison’s outstanding craftsmanship.
Highlighting 64 squares, the board is crafted from alternating black obsidian and high-resistance white ceramic, framed by 516 brilliant-cut diamonds. The chess pieces reinterpret iconic CHANEL symbols, with lions as kings, Vendôme Columns as rooks, couture-inspired bishops and diamond-set ceramic mannequins as pawns.
At the centre of the set are two Queen pieces inspired by Mademoiselle Chanel, each concealing a watch beneath its base. The hidden timepieces feature 25 mm dials powered by quartz movements, displaying hours and minutes and offering water resistance to 30 metres. One Queen combines white ceramic, white gold, diamonds and onyx, while the other pairs black ceramic with black-coated gold and onyx.
Featuring an exceptional combination of white ceramic, black-coated gold, white gold, obsidian, onyx and 9,236 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling approximately 110.94 carats, The Chessboard stands as a remarkable testament to CHANEL’s creativity and savoir-faire, elevating the game of chess into an extraordinary artistic creation.
