Geneva pulsed the rhythm of horological excellence on Thursday, November 13, 2025 for the 25th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards ceremony. Celebrating the most outstanding achievements in the world of watchmaking, winners across various categories were announced.
The Academy and the 2025 Jury chaired by journalist, author and historian Nick Foulkes rewarded 19 exceptional creations reflecting the industry’s dynamism and awarded the coveted “Aiguille d’Or” Grand Prix to Breguet, for the Classique Souscription 2025 watch. This prize rewards the best overall timepiece among all categories, also deemed the most representative of the watch industry as a whole.

Abraham-Louis Breguet’s workshop in Paris saw the birth of the master watchmaker’s great inventions. More than two centuries ago, it was presented through an advertising pamphlet, the likes of which had never been seen before. Today, the historic and groundbreaking Souscription pocket watch is reborn as a wristwatch.
The Classique Souscription 2025, the first piece unveiled to celebrate Breguet’s 250th anniversary, pays tribute to the visionary spirit of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Inspired by the Souscription watch designed in the 18th century, it embodies a renewal infused with apparent simplicity.
This single-hand model faithfully translates the historic pocket watch. Its movement architecture draws inspiration from Souscription calibres and the tact watch, while its aesthetic remain true to the original codes—a satin-brushed case middle, cheyè glass, grand feu enamel dial, secret signature and blued hand done by hand. The caseback is adorned with the exclusive Quai de l’Horloge guilloche pattern and an engraving featuring the founder’s own words on the conception of the movement.
