As autumn arrives across Asia, Aman invites guests to experience the season through traditions, nature and moments of togetherness. From Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations in China and Vietnam to Japan’s Silver Week and immersive experiences across Indonesia and Indochina, the hospitality group presents a collection of seasonal escapes designed to encourage discovery at a slower pace.
Under the Mid-Autumn Moon
From 25 to 27 September, Mid-Autumn Festival brings families and friends together beneath the full moon. At Amandayan in Lijiang, the celebrations include morning Tai Chi, handmade mooncakes, festive feasts and evenings spent beneath the stars. The surrounding mountains also become a setting for wild mushroom foraging, where guests can discover seasonal varieties before enjoying them in a hotpot lunch with a Naxi family or in a tented setting.
At Amanfayun near Hangzhou’s West Lake, the season takes on a more contemplative character. Guests can follow historic pilgrimage routes to nearby temples and Lingyin Feilai Peak, or explore Fayun Place, the resort’s cultural centre. Until 16 October, its centuries-old timber halls host Encountering Plumes: The Hundred Crane Album, an exhibition by artist Lu Shang exploring contemporary interpretations of Eastern aesthetics.
Meanwhile, Amanyangyun on the outskirts of Shanghai offers alfresco Afternoon Tea and a Family Escape combining cycling, tea tasting, wellness classes and child-friendly activities. For a quieter form of restoration, its Luminous Renewal experience incorporates modern wellness technologies, while the 2026 Mooncake Giftbox brings the traditions of the season home through five classic flavours.
Tea Ceremonies
Silver Week, taking place from 19 to 23 September, offers another opportunity for cultural immersion. At Aman Kyoto, guests can experience chanoyu, the Japanese Way of Tea, at Tea House Senkutsu. Traditional and Western tea ceremonies provide different ways to engage with this enduring ritual of hospitality and mindfulness.
At Amanemu in Ise-Shima, guests can visit Ise Jingu with a local guide, discover the region’s pearl cultivation heritage through jewellery-making sessions and meet local artisans through traditional craft workshops. Waterfall meditation and guided stargazing offer quieter encounters with the surrounding landscape.
Culture, Nature and Heritage
Across Indonesia and Indochina, autumn experiences continue to explore the relationship between culture, nature and wellbeing. At Amansara in Cambodia, which reopened on 15 September following an extensive enhancement, the Spirit of Angkor journey combines private temple exploration with Afternoon Tea and a sunset boat journey across Tonlé Sap. Amantaka in Luang Prabang offers encounters with Laos’ spiritual traditions, while Amandari’s Ubud Valley Trails connect guests with rice terraces, villages and Balinese culinary culture.
At Amankila on Bali’s east coast, sunrise excursions across the Lombok Strait reveal Mount Agung and the surrounding coastline, while a Karangasem Royal Dinner at Ujung Water Palace offers an evening rooted in regional heritage. Further west, Amanjiwo’s Javanese Epicurean Journey takes guests through traditional markets and organic gardens before a cooking experience with the resort’s culinary team in a traditional Joglo.
Coastal Escapes
For those drawn to the sea, Aman’s coastal retreats offer another expression of the season. At Amanwana on Moyo Island, private boat excursions into Saleh Bay provide the opportunity to encounter whale sharks, while Amanoi in Vietnam combines Mid-Autumn celebrations with beachfront dinners, mooncake workshops and traditional lantern making.
On Aman’s private island in the Philippines, Amanpulo offers secluded coves, private dining and island activities, while Amanpuri in Phuket presents seasonal dining by the Andaman Sea and a family-focused Villa Experience.
Across these destinations, Aman’s autumn escapes place celebration alongside cultural discovery, inviting guests to slow down, reconnect and experience Asia through its traditions, landscapes and enduring sense of place.
