For once, the sign on the door says the opposite. At 20 Sofitel hotels around the world, guests are encouraged to invite a knock, swapping the usual “Do Not Disturb” for a pastry-and-coffee ritual delivered straight to the room.
The occasion is the first-ever collaboration between the French hospitality house’s La Haute Croissanterie programme and Nespresso. Running from 1 September to 26 November 2026, the limited-edition pairing menu sits beside each room’s coffee machine, offering three signature croissants matched with three bespoke coffee recipes.
A French Ritual, Elevated
Few habits are as quietly French as le café-croissant: a warm pastry, a good cup and nowhere pressing to be. Sofitel has long built its identity around this kind of unhurried pleasure, which it calls its French Zest, and the new menu treats the ritual as gastronomy rather than simply breakfast.
The collaboration is also the latest chapter in a programme that began on World Croissant Day in January 2024. Two limited collections, one floral and one fruit-led, have followed, but this is the first time the maison has brought in an outside partner. Corporate Executive Chef Anne-Cécile Degenne describes the result as “a fresh expression of French art de vivre that guests can enjoy in the privacy of their own room.”
Three Pairings for the Morning and Beyond
Le Brulé
A decaffeinated cappuccino mousse brûlée meets a crisp honey cream croissant. Almond runs through both, lifted by orange blossom and fresh zest, while the coffee’s toasted finish draws out the pastry’s honeyed layers. With airy foam set against a flaky crust, this is the gentlest of the three.
L’Epicé
Coffee and dark chocolate form the backbone here, with a tropical detour. The croissant’s coffee-chocolate ganache mirrors the espresso in the cup, which is softened with oat milk. Passion fruit brings a bright acidity, and a touch of Sichuan pepper leaves a slow, aromatic warmth.
Le Tonique
This is the one to order on a warm afternoon. An iced orange espresso tonic accompanies a Paris-Brest croissant filled with hazelnut praline diplomat cream and roasted hazelnuts. The tonic’s sparkle cuts through the richness, while orange blossom water ties the citrus to the nutty pastry.
Theatre at the Door
What sets the experience apart from ordinary room service is its final flourish. Each pairing can be ordered throughout the day, and the last touch is performed in the room itself: a brûléed sugar crust, a mist of citrus, or dark chocolate and Sichuan pepper grated over the top. It is a small gesture, but it turns a tray delivery into a moment of performance. For a few minutes, the room becomes a private patisserie counter.
