Hublot and British designer Samuel Ross unveil the Big Bang Unico SR_A, marking a new chapter in their evolving creative partnership. First revealed in Milan on 19 January 2026, the timepiece introduces Ross’s SR_A design language to Hublot’s Unico Manufacture movement; merging industrial codes with the Maison’s emblematic chronograph calibre into a singular, unified creation.
The blueprint of the watch can be traced back to the three preceding SR_A tourbillon editions. Elements such as the monochrome ceramic exterior and the newly developed honeycomb rubber strap are reinterpreted here within a model limited to 200 pieces. Its all-black presence, anchored by a 42mm case finished in a combination of satin and polished surfaces, reflects the modular geometry synonymous with the Big Bang line, while reinstating a sleek, stripped-back aesthetic. At the same time, Ross’s signature honeycomb motif is reimagined through a structured rubber strap that is both lightweight and architectural, reinforcing the industrial codes that define the collaboration. As Ross himself notes, the intention was not to add, but to subtract—to remove visual excess in pursuit of clarity and lightness.
Beneath the matte black skeleton dial, the watch reveals key components of the Unico movement, including the visible column wheel at six o’clock and the open-worked chronograph mechanism. This transparency foregrounds the mechanical complexity of the HUB1280 Unico calibre, featuring a flyback chronograph, silicon escapement, and a 72-hour power reserve.
The release also arrives at a moment of significance for Hublot. “The Big Bang Unico SR_A represents an important milestone for us, as this year we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our first All Black timepiece, making this edition with Samuel Ross even more special,” said Julien Tornare in a statement. Echoing this sentiment, Ross reaffirmed his commitment to advancing contemporary watchmaking through radical design. “Deeply functional, robust and hard-wearing, we have envisioned a new wearable machine for the wrist built for a rugged, hands-on lifestyle. A completely new casing of black ceramic reshaping Hublot’s iconic Unico movement,” he explained.
This shared vision underpins the decision to expand the collaboration through a 200-piece limited edition, signalling a deliberate broadening of its reach. The Big Bang Unico SR_A ultimately serves as a convergence point: introducing the artist’s identity in a more accessible, versatile format, while aligning the partnership more closely with the wider Big Bang collection.
